StarQuest Online server

Server address: 216.128.157.139   online

Download starquestonlinesetup.exe (321.7 MB) - the game itself, install it first

Download Python 3.12 for Windows (from python.org, 25 MB) - needed by PLAY.bat; tick Add python.exe to PATH when you install it

Download SQO_player_files.zip (328.2 MB)

How to connect - Windows
  1. Download starquestonlinesetup.exe (button above), run it and install StarQuest Online to the default folder.
  2. Python 3 is needed on Windows: download it with the Python 3.12 button above (or from python.org), run it and tick Add python.exe to PATH on the first screen before pressing Install Now.
  3. Download SQO_player_files.zip above, right-click it, Extract All.
  4. Double-click PLAY.bat in the extracted folder. It fills in the server address 216.128.157.139 for you (if the login screen asks, type it).
  5. Log in with any new user name and password - the account is made the first time. Create a character and press Select.

You download the zip only once: every later start of PLAY.bat (or play_linux.sh) fetches changed game files from this server by itself (/update/manifest.json).

How to connect - Linux
  1. Install Wine 8 or newer with 32-bit support (Ubuntu / Mint / Debian: sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 && sudo apt update && sudo apt install wine wine32 wine64).
  2. Download the installer and SQO_player_files.zip above, extract the zip, open a terminal in that folder and run once: chmod +x play_linux.sh and ./play_linux.sh --install /path/to/starquestonlinesetup.exe (keep the default install folder).
  3. After that start the game with ./play_linux.sh - do not use PLAY.bat on Linux. No Python install is needed: the first start downloads a small private Windows Python for Wine.
  4. Details and troubleshooting: README_LINUX.txt in the zip.

The game manual is in the zip (GAME_MANUAL.html). In the game: F6 Global chat, F7 Fleet, F8 Faction (F8 again: Colony); your starter ship waits in orbit - say 'beam me up' on your handcomm.

Found a bug? Press F9 in game (or Ctrl+F9, or click the SQO Bug Reporter icon next to the clock): a window opens with a screenshot - pick what kind of problem it is, describe it and press Send. Crashes are reported by themselves; reports made while the server is down are sent at the next start.
